day 24 after transplant

Good evening !

First let me say what an awesome God we have. I have had a wonderful day. I didn't have to be at the clinic today until 11:45 so we got to sleep in and that was good because I was so tired from the day before. Nice to be able to chill for a while. I had labs done and a small IV of saline. The nurse pract. checked me over and said that I was doing very well. I had to do another culture for this virus and had a chest x-ray. I do not have to go the clinic tomorrow so that will be good to have another day off. Pam and I will have to find some place to go and walk around.

Had to go to the drugstore and get another prescription and then we came back to the hotel and I laid down for a while and then we walked the full length of the hotel hall for some excerise.

Pam fixed me a fish filet, baked potato and beets for dinner -- it was really good. Now she just brought me a hot cup of tea and fruit with pound cake. I think that I am getting very spoiled.

Miss all of you guys and think about you alot but the time here is going by so much faster than I ever thought that it would. I have had some time to read and that is something that I enjoy doing and don't get a lot of time to do.

God Bless,
Gloria

day 23 after transplant

Good evening to all,

The day started by going to the clinic at 10 and it was a short visit. They are still pleased with my progress. I have to go to the clinic tomorrow at 11:45 and hopefully that will be a short visit also. I still have this virus but hopefully it is on the mend.

Rodney left and now Pam Cox is my caregiver for the week. Rodney sure was a good caregiver and I know that all my other caregivers will be just as good. The suite is now more like home because it is clean just like your house. Just extra things to do to keep safer for me.

Again this is going to be another short blog. It has been a wonderful but exhausting day.

God Bless All

day 22 after transplant

Good evening!

One month ago today I was admitted to the hospital and started my chemo to get to ground zero. I am glad that for that step to be over and on to recovery.

I had a good day today because I had a day off from the clinic and my parents came down for a short visit. It was good to see them and I think that they were suprised at how well I am doing.
It was good for them to be here so Rodney and I could show them around the hotel and to show them some of the things that needs to be done to take care of me. Rodney says that if he can do it anyone else can do it. Just wash hands and keep things clean. Rodney does my laundry and bed linens in the laundry room provided by the hotel so it is not put in with the laundry for the entire hotel. Rodney has been wonderful taking care of me and I know that everyone else will be fine also.

This is going to be short because I am going to bed early tonight because I have to be at the clinic tomorrow at 10.

I will miss being in church and seeing all of you but know that I will be there in spirit.

God Bless All,
Gloria

day 21 after transplant

Good evening to all !

Can you believe that I have been away from Bridgewater for exactly one month today? Time does fly. It is so nice to be in the Candlewood Suites where it is more like home and not the hospital environment.

Another good day at the clinic. It was short and and I was told that I will get another day off. I don't have to go back until Sunday morning. Dr. Chung came in and said that I was doing very well. He said that a lot of patients don't get their first day off from the clinic for at least one month. He has even taken me off of some of my meds. Oh my how God is good. He sure is with me all the step of the way and He has His loving arms wrapped around me. What comfort.

Went to Target and to U-krops today and got some supplies and it was good to get out again in the nice warm weather.

Rodney made me some wonderful pasta tonight for dinner. I sit in a chair and gave him directions and he did a wonderful job. He is really spoiling me.

I will even get some visitors tomorrow -- my parents are coming down for a little while and it will be good to see them.

I has been a wonderful day and I think that I will get ready to call it a night and get ready for another wonderful day tomorrow.

Again I continue to thank each and everyone of you all for all your love, support, cards and prayers. I may not be there in person but I miss all of you very much and can't wait until I get back to Bridgewater. I have learned patience and I shall just take one day at a time. I am getting a lot of reading done and that feels good.

God Bless,
Gloria

day 20 after transplant

Good evening to all!

What a busy but wonderful day I had. Got up at 7:45 and had breakfast. Rodney did laundry and ran the dishwasher -- he is really becoming domesticated! He cleaned the bathroom and kitchen.
At least I got to fold the clean clothes and empty the clean dishes from the dishwasher. I feel helpless.

It was wonderful to have the day off from the clinic so we found a mall to go to. It was a nice day to walk the outside and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. After we got back to the hotel Rodney had some work to do so I went to bed to rest.

Rodney fixed dinner and now we are relaxing and enjoying each others company.

I have to be at the clinic tomorrow at 10:30 so I won't stay up late tonight. Praying for a good report at the clinic tomorrow. I have been a good girl and I have been drinking, drinking, and drinking. I feel like a fish!

Thanks again to everyone for all your cards, support and especially your prayers.
God is so good to bless me with all of you to be there for support.

Love,
Gloria

day 19 after transplant

Good evening !

Had a very good night's rest and we got up at 7:30 and had breakfast. We didn't have to be at the clinic until 10:30.

Still had to be put in an isolation room and they took labs and gave me a small IV bag of saline solution and then it seemed like a long time until my lab results came back. It was good news. I didn't need anything else. As a matter of fact I get a day off tomorrow -- no clinic for me tomorrow! Praise the Lord ! I have to go back on Friday and also to see a doctor.

On our way back to the hotel we found a Food Lion and I even got to go in as long as I didn't touch anything. That was kind of hard to do but it was ok. They said that if I felt that it was not safe to leave. I stayed out of the produce dept. and away from the flower dept.

Came back to the hotel and ate dinner and then went to lay down for a while and the next thing I know Rodney came in to wake me up at 8 to take my pills.

I got mail today and that a nice surprise.

The people here at the hotel could not be more helpful. Tonight they had a cookout with hamburgers and hot dogs out on the grill. That is where Rodney got his dinner.

Tomorrow is a day to relax and maybe explore the area for a mall. As long as it is a time when the mall is not crowded they said that would be a good place to walk.

Thanks so much for your continued support and all your prayers -- they sure do work.

God Bless,
Gloria

day 18 after transplant

Good morning !

We had a bad lightning storm here last night and could not get connected to the internet and I fell asleep while waiting for the storm to be over.

I had a good and busy day yesterday. When to clinic and it was not as long as the first day because I have been drinking more the IV bag of saline was 1/2 as big. Labs were fine but the influenza culture is still postive so I am still put in isolation. I feel that it is getting better but just annoying cough.

After clinic it was such a beautiful day that I did more walking outside with mask and walked the hall of the hotel to find out where the gym is and picked out a couple of pieces of equipment that I could use when there is no one else in there.

Then layed down to rest and slept 3 hours. Pam woke me up and said that Rodney and Denny would be here soon. Ate dinner and in they arrived. It was good to see their faces.

One funny story before I close -- I woke up at 3 am and had to go to the bathroom and I panicked because I couldn't find my IV pole or the outlet to unplug it. I was looking all around and then I came to my senses and remembered that I was not in the hospital and was not even connected to the IV pole anymore!

Rodney is trying to fix my breakfast and then it is off to the clinic.

Will write more tonight.

God Bless All,
Gloria
